- Basic understanding of how to use a telescope
- Understand what it means to be an astronomer
- Understand how to locate the North Star
- Understand the difference between circumpolar and seasonal constellations
- Understand moon phases
- Be able to navigate through the night sky
- Be able to locate some common stars in the night sky
- Understand what a deep sky object is and how to locate at least three
