FOSTER CHILDREN GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR 4-H PROJECTS AND CAMP
Kansas
4-H Youth Development, the Kansas 4-H Foundation and Saint Francis
Community Services are working together to provide funding opportunities

agriculture to food and nutrition to aerospace and photography. Although
being involved in the local club can provide an opportunity for youth
to learn from each other and contribute to others through community
service projects, volunteers and family support are also important
elements of 4-H as volunteers and parents serve as club and project
leaders that guide and mentor youth. Through the Kansas 4-H Foundation,

CURRICULUM CORNER
Resource Sharing Opportunities
Here are some ways you as an extension
professional may share and promote state and local resources throughout the
nation. 4-H National Headquarters and National 4-H Council, encourage the high
quality state and county curricula and learning materials developed by the Land-grant
University Extension System to be recognized and shared. The learning resources
vary from state to state and it can be challenging to know who has what and if
others can use it. Here are some strategies for promoting your materials to
your colleagues.
SHARE
My 4-H serves
as a central and collaborative source for 4-H resources– including the National
Directory of 4-H Materials. 4-H professionals, volunteers, and youth leaders
can share, discuss, and learn of information and resources related to 4-H projects
and positive youth development. Share your learning materials and resources by
logging in to my4-H at www.4-H.org.my4h. Here you can upload your free
materials or provide a link to materials that are for sale. Only materials
produced by Extension can be put on this site and State Program Leaders (or
their designee) must approve contributions before they are published onto the
website. [Note: If you are new to the state leader role, please contact Tara
Wheeler at twheeler@fourhcouncil.edu to
make sure your information has been updated in this electronic notification
system. If you have questions about
my4-H and how to use it, please contact Beth Hecht at bhecht@fourhcouncil.edu.)
ENGAGE
Management teams (Science, Healthy Living, Citizenship,
Professional Development, Military, etc.) welcome information about high
quality Land-grant University materials.
When information is shared with the Management teams, the team can send
a communication about the materials to the national list serves. Not sure who your team liaisons are or how to
contact a management team? Check with your state leader or email 4Hhq@nifa.usda.gov.
REVIEW
State and local 4-H staff are encouraged to submit materials to
the national 4-H peer review process to obtain national peer reviewed status. Access the peer review process at this link: http://4hcouncil.integrify.com. Once
materials have passed review, state leader approval is required prior to
obtaining the national peer reviewed status. Learn more about this process at
the curriculum development website: www.4-H.org/curriculum/development. This web page also provides
information on how you can become a peer reviewer – a great professional
development opportunity!
PARTNER
Upon achieving national 4-H peer review status, there is an option
to work with National 4-H Council to sell and promote materials. This option is considered on a case-by-case
basis. In addition to achieving peer review status, materials must meet a
national demand. State leader approval
is necessary prior to engaging in any agreement with National 4-H Council. For
more information contact Tara Wheeler at twheeler@fourhcouncil.edu. Adams
