FIVE KANSAS DELEGATES APPROVED FOR OUTBOUND EXCHANGES
Four 4-H members and one 4-H alumna were approved for outbound 4-H International Exchanges in 2012 in interviews December 3. The prospective delegates also took part in their first orientation in preparation for the trip while in Manhattan December 2-3. The 4-H members will be nominated by Kansas to States’ 4-H International Exchange Programs (S4-H), the non-profit organization which manages exchanges for 4-H age youth. Placements won’t become final until S4-H assigns nominees to available countries after February 1.The 4-H alumna IFYE representative will be programmed by Kansas 4-H and the host countries that accept our delegate. Country placements for her program will depend on acceptance by the countries. We hope they will be finalized in the next month. The prospective delegates, their home counties, length of stay and country(ies) they hope to visit are as follows:

HOSTING OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUMMER 2012
Please let 4-H families who would like to host teenaged exchangees know that applications to host these inbounds, teens from Argentina and Finland, are due February 10. They must have references in and an in home interview completed in time to be submitted to Seattle to arrive by March 1. Since we will be conducting the Youth Leadership Program for Kenyans in the last half of February, it would be difficult to clear late applicants. Any family who applies for an Argentine or Finn can still be considered for hosting a Japanese teen, though Kansas usually does not get many Japanese beyond age 14. Exchangees stay with one host family for about 4 weeks. To get the Host Family Application and information for any of these programs, go to www.kansas4-h.org. Follow links to “programs”, “world citizenship” and “Kansas Exchanges”.
For information about hosting, contact Mary Kay Munson at 785-238-3631, munson@ksbroadband.net, or Rose Scott 785-388-2009, rose@threeriversinc.org [Japan Inbound Exchange].
Families may apply from now until all incoming exchangees are placed for the IFYE Representative Program which involves young adults 19-26 who stay with multiple families for 2-3 weeks each. We expect IFYE’s from several countries between June and September.
