Applications Now Open for 2025 4-H Exchange Host Families

Submitted by Mary Kay Munson

Kansas 4-H families are encouraged to apply now to host one-month exchanges through States’ 4-H International Exchange Programs (States’ 4-H) in 2025. Kansas expects to host 4-S members from Costa Rica and 4H members from Norway, June 25-July 19; Taiwan 4-H members, July 3-August 2; and Japanese Labo and LEX members July 21 to August 16. All teens and their adult chaperones will need an individual host family.  Host families for teens must have a host sibling of the same gender and within 2-3 years of age.  Chaperones may be placed with more than one family without a host teen during the time they are in Kansas.  Placements of inbound delegates will begin in late February or March.

The winter holidays are a great time to plan to enrich your family’s experience by adding a new member from another culture. Living your everyday life with an international family member is like a vacation at home!  They love doing chores with you and participating in normal summer activities.  The online application may be found at www.kansas4-h.org by clicking on the link to 4-H Exchange Host Families under “News and Updates” on the home page. Previous host families can easily update their applications on the States' 4-H site. Contact Pam VanHorn pvanhorn@ksu.edu for more information on hosting the Japan Exchange and Mary Kay Munson, state exchange coordinator, mkm2@ksu.edu, about hosting the other exchanges or for general exchange information.
