Achieving the Extension Mission Through Volunteers Cohort Training

Submitted by Shane Potter

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to share a Professional Development Opportunity brought to you by the North Central Region Volunteer Specialists. Achieving the Extension Mission Through Volunteers, is an online cohort course designed to build staff and organizational capacity around volunteer management and development. The course targets extension professionals across all subject matter areas who work with volunteers to enhance and deliver Extension programs. Last year colleagues from each program area participated.

Recruitment is beginning now for participation in the 2019 cohorts! With a limited number of spots available, interested staff members are encouraged to register early to be included in this learning experience designed to enhance staff success in all aspects of volunteer management. During the six-week period, participants will engage in pre-recorded sessions; readings; activities and three live webinars. Staff will also develop connections with colleagues from other states as they share ideas, provide feedback on volunteer management concepts and explore strategies to meet the needs of new volunteers.

Staff members in the North Central Region are eligible for early registration at a reduced cost of $100. After October 1, registration will open to participants nationwide at a rate of $250.  Please review the attached documents:
• Course Recruitment flyer: course overview, testimonials from past participants, and registration details for professional development being offered on a national level January 28-March 17, 2019
• 2019 Course Handbook: Detailed course outline

Achieving the Extension Mission through Volunteers provides you with a great scholarship opportunity to enhance your skills and strengthen your overall volunteer management success.

Click Here to Register. Staff who are not from Minnesota need to create a Guest Account to register. Use the following code, NCRVS, when you checkout after registering to receive the reduced rate. Register early. The course fills quickly.

You will need to pay the registration fee; we would encourage you use county funds or request area professional development funds. If you do not have access to professional development funding please contact your program area.

If you have any questions about the online course or how to register, please contact Shane Potter potters@ksu.edu.
