Kansas 4-H Tip Sheet

September 17, 2025

Thank You from the Kansas State Fair

Submitted by Sarah E. Maass

Kansas 4-H is incredibly fortunate to have the dedication of outstanding local Extension professionals, volunteers, and our state 4-H team who came together to create a remarkable showcase of youth talent at the 2025 Kansas State Fair. Your time, energy, and commitment made this celebration of 4-H excellence possible — thank you!

We continue to appreciate your flexibility as we navigate the growing opportunities and challenges that come with the 4-H Showcase Building, introduced in 2024. This new space has allowed us to better distribute exhibits, enhance the experience for both members and visitors, and begin planning for expanded 4-H divisions in the future. The feedback from fairgoers has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited about the possibilities this building brings. A special thank you to Landoll Company, LLC, for their generous contribution in designing and donating the building’s signage — your support helps elevate the 4-H experience for all!

A special thank you to the Kansas 4-H Foundation for once again sponsoring Thursday’s lunch for judges, superintendents, and volunteers. This thoughtful gesture gave everyone a chance to recharge and return ready to support our youth through judging, tabulating, and displaying exhibits.

This year, we faced an unfortunate challenge with the theft of several 4-H member projects. While we are grateful that most of the items were recovered and returned to their rightful owners, a few cases remain under investigation. We are actively exploring ways to strengthen security and ensure that no 4-H member has to endure a similar experience in the future. Thank you for your continued support and vigilance as we work to protect the integrity of the 4-H experience for all.

The new 4-H year will quickly be upon us; let’s take a moment to reflect on our “why.” Why did we choose this profession — or why did it choose us? How can we be more intentional in bringing that purpose into everything we do?

There is still so much more we can do to meet the needs of Kansas youth and families. Let’s continue to grow, lead, and help our youth be Beyond Ready in all they do in 2026 and beyond.
