Kansas 4-H staff, volunteers receive international recognition
Kansas 4-H received the Extraordinary Quality Program Award by States' 4-H International Exchange Programs for their participation in the 2015 global citizenship youth exchange programs.
State coordinators Rose Scott and Mary Kay Munson received the award on behalf of Kansas 4-H Youth Development Department at the annual States' 4-H Coordinators' Conference on Nov. 6, in New Orleans. In addition, Extension agents Berny Unruh, Barton County, and Brenda Taxeras, Leavenworth County, and volunteer Jennifer Pfortmiller, Stafford County, received recognition for their significant contributions as volunteers. Kansas 4-H global citizenship programs and international exchange programs have been operating since 1948, and is led by Deryl Waldren, Extension specialist, 4-H youth development.
International youth education programs in partnership with 4-H youth development across the U.S. serves to unify the critical elements of positive youth development, cultural competency and world understanding.
