Raise Your Hand Contest Ends June 30th!
Submitted by Michelle Overstreet Schrader
Kansas has made their 4-H alumni presence known at the national level (www.4h.org/raiseyourhand)! With just a few weeks left in the contest, Kansas is currently in 4th place, with goals of moving into 3rd (winning $5,000 for Kansas 4-H) and reaching 5,000 alumni to claim the full $10,000 from Stanion Wholesale Electric Co.
To encourage registration, a PSA and talking points are provided below. The PSA is designed for delivery by 4-H members but can be easily modified. It would be a great opportunity for a 4-H member (or staff member) to promote the campaign through radio, TV, or social media.
If more information is needed, contact the 4-H Foundation (785.532.5881 or info@kansas4hfoundation.org). GO KANSAS!
RAISE YOUR HAND PSA (30 seconds)
Hi, I am FIRST NAME from HOME COUNTY and I am a proud 4-H member.
I invite 4-H alumni to raise your hand in support of 4-H’ers like me by visiting www.ks4h.org. By raising your hand, you will help Kansas compete in a national competition. Stanion Wholesale Electric Company will also donate $2 for every former Kansas 4-H member who registers!
Raise Your Hand and show you were 4-H Grown at www.ks4h.org.
RAISE YOUR HAND SPEAKING POINTS
As a part of the national “Raise Your Hand” campaign we invite you to be an advocate and encourage alumni to raise their hands in support of Kansas 4-H! Here are some speaking points to share with your communities via radio spots, meetings, newsletters, etc.
- “Raise Your Hand” is a national alumni activation competition. The top 3 states with the most alumni who “raise their hands” and sign up will win cash prizes.
- Stanion Wholesale Electric Company will generously donate $2 dollars for every former 4-H member from Kansas who registers (up to $10,000).
- Through 4-H, youth learn responsibility, teamwork, perseverance and much more! This competition is a chance for former members to show pride in their 4-H experience and also show support of current 4-H’ers.
- Alumni can sign up at www.ks4h.org.
- The competition ends June 30th.
- As of the June 1st, Kansas was in fourth place. Let’s show the other states how proud we are of our 4-H program and increase our ranking!
