Kansas 4-H International Exchange Programs Contacts
On November 1st, Aliah Mestrovich Seay, Extension Specialist, 4-H Youth Development will assume responsibilities as the faculty liaison for all Global Citizenship Programs, including international 4-H exchange programs. Contact Aliah at 785-532-5800 or email aliah@ksu.edu.
Deryl Waldren retired in June 2019. He then was hired back as a 4-H coordinator contractor in global citizenship and exchange programs through October 31st.
In addition, there are three coordinators who facilitate all Kansas 4-H International Exchange Programs. Here is their contact information and major responsibilities:
1. Chelsy Champlin, Kansas IFYE Inbound Coordinator, 785-248-6131; or e-mail chelsycoen@gmail.com. Chelsy continues with the Kansas IFYE Inbound Coordinator position. Chelsy will find host families for IFYEs and other inbound exchangees to Kansas. She will also facilitate securing applications, positive references, in-home interviews, and background checks for all adults in the household. She will conduct a host family orientation, among other tasks.
2. Mary Kay Munson, 785-238-3631; or e-mail munson@ksbroadband.net. Mary Kay is the long-time coordinator who will continue to coordinate the States’ 4-H academic year program (year-long high school exchange), States’ 4-H exchange programs for 4-H-age members (for both going and coming to Kansas), and the Kansas 4-H IFYE Outbounds (those Kansas IFYEs going to other countries).
3. Rose Scott, 785-565-3197, or e-mail sixtykid2@gmail.com will continue as the Kansas 4-H Japanese Exchange Coordinator. Rose organizes all parts of the Kansas – Japanese exchange program, which began in Kansas in 1977. In 2020, Kansas will be hosting 24 Japanese youth and two-three chaperones.
