Outbound 4-H Exchange Delegates Depart for Host Countries
Beginning June 10, the first of seven outbound 4-H delegates departed for Japan. These four Kansans will join others from across the US for four weeks with a family in Tokyo studying Japanese language and culture followed by a four-week home stay with another family somewhere in Japan who is a member of our partner youth development organization, Labo or LEX. Kansas 4-H’ers participating in this 8-week Japan exchange through States’ 4-H International Exchange Programs and their county/district are as follows:
• Michelle Barb, Grant County
• Heather Chaney, Neosho Co., Southwind Dist.
• Hannah Horinek, Haskell County
• Dylan Smith, Leavenworth
The next to depart is Amy Keas, Rooks County 4-H alumna, who is participating in a two-month IFYE exchange to Germany. She departs for Altanta, GA, on June 17 and from there departs to Germany on June 21.
Single participants from Kansas will join States’ 4-H groups spending a month in Costa Rica and Finland. Mardi Traskowsky, Dickinson Co. 4-H’er, will depart June 18 for Costa Rica and Mikey Hughes, Barton Co. 4-H’er will depart June 29 to join the group going to Finland.
