January Ideal Time for Academic Year Hosting Applications for 2019-2020
Since host family placements for the next school year begin at the end of January, now is the ideal time for families to apply for Academic Year Programs (AYP) through States’ 4-H International Exchange Programs. Kansas 4-H has participated for many years, and we are convinced our programs are among the very best available today for high school students. Families have the opportunity to review approved applicants available through 4-H’s national pool.
These students are part of Labo and LEX/Hippo language programs in Japan, Bright Futures Education (BFE) in South Korea and the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) with students from 20 countries in Europe and Asia. New countries have been added for next year including Czech Republic, Greece and Slovakia. During the currently families in the Flint Hills District and Geary County 4-H programs are enjoying their experiences with students from Poland and Ukraine. AYP students will be involved with 4-H, but current 4-H membership by host families or children at home are not required.
Anyone interested in more information or an application should contact Mary Kay Munson, State AYP Coordinator at 785-238-3631 or munson@ksbroadband.net.
