Nine Teens Approved to Represent Kansas on States’ 4-H Exchanges in 2020
At Kansas International Exchange Interviews held November 24, nine applicants for States’ 4-H Exchanges representing Kansas 4-H were approved for summer 2020. Their applications were submitted to the national office before the December 1 deadline. We expect to be informed by mid-January regarding their placements in outbound exchanges to Costa Rica, Japan or Norway, the exchanges individuals have listed as their first choices. We have been informed that there are about 50% more applicants nationally than last year, and there may not be opportunities for all to get their first choices. The national office is working with exchange partners in host countries to increase the numbers they will host. When placements are determined, those who don’t get into their first choice delegations will have a chance to accept a second choice. We hope to know by the February Tip Sheet deadline where our outbound travelers will be going. Prospective delegates, Extension units and first choice of countries are as follows:
- Maddie Anderson, Johnson County, Norway
- Taelur Barnes, Meadowlark District—Jefferson, Norway
- Conner Broers, Meadowlark District—Jefferson, Japan (4-weeks)
- Della Hettenbach, Dickinson County, Norway
- Desiree Ingalsbe, Butler County, Norway
- Laura Koch, Flint Hills District—Chase, Costa Rica
- Kate Rogers, Scott County, Japan (4-weeks)
- Alex Thompson, Meadowlark District—Jefferson, Japan (4-weeks)
- Stephen Van Slyke, Pratt County, Japan (8-weeks)
