Kansas State Fair Photography Judging Contest
Each year, 4-H photography members can participate in the Kansas State Fair 4-H Photography Judging Contest. The contest consists of six classes of photographs, one problems class, and a written exam. The written exam will consist of multiple-choice and/or matching questions.
Last year, we were able to pilot a small segment of 4-H members taking the written exam, formatted in Qualtrics, on provided laptops. Not only did we receive overwhelmingly positive feedback, but it also cut the test-taking time by half, a win-win for everyone!
Due to the success of last year's pilot, all written exams will be administered this year via Qualtrics on laptops. 4-H members will check in at their designated time, sit through a short orientation, and then take the test as a laptop becomes available. Approximately 50 laptops are available for use which will help the contest move along quickly and efficiently.
If your extension unit will be entering more than four members to compete in the photography judging contest, please email a list of team members vs. individual contestants to Amy Collins. Acollins@ksu.edu
Knowing team members vs. individual contestants ahead of time will help streamline things on our end and alleviate a lot of guessing after the contest.
The photography judging contest takes place on Sunday, September 8th at the Encampment Building on the Kansas State Fairgrounds.
As stated in the Kansas State Fair 4-H Exhibitor Handbook, Group 1 will check in between 10:00 - 10:30, orientation at 10:30, and released for judging and test-taking in groups.
Group 2 will check in from 11:00 - 11:30, orientation at 11:30, and released for judging and test-taking in groups.
Top teams and individuals will receive medals and certificates for their accomplishments.
